About Cypress Golf Management
William Stine - Chief Executive Officer William "Bill" Stine has over 25 years of golf course operations and acquisitions experience. Bill is responsible for the oversight and management company assets as well as managing the corporate affairs of Cypress Golf Management.
As a Co-Founder and President of International Golf Maintenance Co. (IGM), and Meadowbrook Golf, Bill was instrumental in growing the company to become the third largest golf course operator in the U. S. With 105 courses and 5,000 employees, he grew IGM into the industry's largest provider of third party golf course maintenance. Bill is a Past President and is a current Board Member of the National Golf Course Owners Association and was an original member of the “Golf 20/20” steering committee.
John Fogel, PGA - President / Chief Operating Officer
John is responsible for the oversight and direction of all golf operations. John has been a Class “A” PGA Professional since 1997 and possesses 20 years of experience in the golf industry.
Previously, John worked with Kitson and Partners as Vice President of Operations. In his time there, John was responsible for the operations of all owned assets as well as all third party management contracts. John’s management assignments took him all across the United States including Hawaii, the North East, South East and South West.
John also worked at Meadowbrook Golf and ascended to the position of Regional Vice President responsible for all operations at clubs in the North East and South East Regions.
Scott A. Zakany – Head Agronomist
Scott A. Zakany heads the Agronomic Support team. Mr. Zakany has been involved in the Golf Course industry for over 25 years and has experience at over 300 golf facilities in three countries.
Prior to his involvement with Cypress Golf Management, Mr. Zakany was a co-founder of International Golf Maintenance in 1994 where he served as President of the world's largest golf course maintenance company. Mr. Zakany has been a Certified Golf Course Superintendent, as designated by the Golf Course Superintendents Assocation of America, for over 20 years and currently serves on the industry Advisory Board at Lake City Community College’s School of Golf Course and Landscape Operations.
Mr. Zakany is a member of the Top Agronomic Officers Advisory Board that works in conjunction with the National Golf Course Owner’s Association and he also serves as the Agronomic Counsel for the Golf Course Business Consultants Group (CGBC) which is a professional organization that provides owners and operators with golf course related services and advice. Mr. Zakany has an Associate of Science Degree in Golf Course Operation from LCCC and is an active member of several advisory organizations and groups.
Tim Coolican - PGA
Tim has been involved in the golf industry for 25 years. His experiences started in serving apprenticeships at many fine clubs, to becoming a General Manager and golf course owner. Learning the golf business from a very young age working in outside course operations, golf course maintenance, clubhouse operations, and general management, Tim has developed a well-rounded knowledge of the business.
His professional career started to develop as Tim was named Head PGA Professional at Indian Trail Country Club in Royal Palm Beach, Florida in 1988. He served in that role for seven years and was hired by St. Lucie County, Florida in 1995 to serve at the General Manager/PGA Professional. Fairwinds Golf Course is an 18 hole municipal golf facility located in northern St. Lucie County, Florida. During Tim's 11 years at the facility he was responsible for the development of many golf programs that ultimately grew rounds of golf from 52,000 in 1994 to 78,000 in 2004. In 2003 Golf Digest magazine ranked Fairwinds 2nd behind Pebble Beach as the best high volume public golf facility in North America.
During the past twenty five years Tim's accomplishments have been many; he served 8 times as a Site Coordinator for a National Junior Program called “Hook A Kid on Golf”, founded the SLCJGA, a popular junior golf tour is South Florida, participated in every growth of the game initiative set forth by the PGA, served as a rules official in 6 state golf championships and countless professional tournaments, and much more.
Blake Sampson - Director of Operations
Blake has over 10 years experience in the golf course management and specializes in the turnaround of distressed assets. His experience includes team building, marketing, revenue generation, business plan development, budgeting and food and beverage.
Blake has completed a number of projects in the past with Cypress Golf and is currently overseeing multiple clubs throughout Florida and Georgia. His attention to detail and knowledge of all facets of club operations allows him to work effortlessly with Cypress's club managers on a daily basis. Blake has developed and implemented multiple tools to help with day-to-day operations of clubs. He works hard to make sure all operations are working efficiently.
